unlocknetzero.co.uk aims to inform, educate, and connect people and organisations for a transition to Net Zero emissions.
A new knowledge portal dedicated to providing practical, accessible information on the practicalities of moving to a zero carbon future has been launched by integrated communications agency, Social in partnership with Ocean Media Group.
unlocknetzero.co.uk is the culmination of months of research and creative collaboration and has been designed to inform, educate, and connect people and organisations involved in moving to a Net Zero emissions future.
Social’s recently established Net Zero practice led on creative development of the site from branding to content curation, which includes thought leadership, case studies of low carbon projects, a resource library of energy sector reports, finance information and net zero event listings. Following the launch the agency will continue to manage all content direction for the site.
Unlock Net Zero seeks to educate its audience on the technologies, infrastructure and behaviour change required to deliver Net Zero. The site is focused on helping to identify and explain how the country transitions to a Net Zero future in practical terms. The intention is to create sharp insight to generate value and knowledge.
An editorial board has been established to advise on the direction of content on the site and is made up of senior executives from across government agencies and departments, the Climate Change Committee, Local Government, the Green Finance Institute and other private and public organisations.
Andy Cameron-Smith, director, Net Zero at Social commented:
“We are very proud to have worked on such an important project in the move towards Net Zero and our aim is to build a powerful knowledge hub and connected community. The site is intended to be a positive, non-judgemental space; this is all about informing how we can achieve Net Zero.
Our immediate response to COVID-19 aside, climate change is the biggest challenge we face. We will only deliver on a Net Zero future if we work in partnership and we hope this site will prove to be a collaborating force to make that happen.”
Portal founder and lead Sarah Payling, group event director (housing) at Ocean Media Group said:
“We see the launch of unlock Net Zero as very timely. We have a lot of work to do to make a Net Zero future a reality. The government has signposted a clean green energy system as the cornerstone of how we build back better.
We feel there is a need for a cohesive Net Zero information offering at present, so we want to work in collaboration with academia, government and industry to build a powerful knowledge resource to reduce our dependence on high carbon energy intensity and deliver on our 2050 targets.”
Ocean Media Group is a publisher, data provider and event organiser which publishes the Inside Housing and Social Housing digital and print titles. Social is a communications consultancy with offices in Bristol, Leeds, Liverpool, London, and Manchester. In January this year the Social Net Zero communications practice was launched to help organisations establish and communicate their Net Zero ambitions.
