New recruits in Leeds as Social picks up raft of new clients

Integrated agency, Social has continued its growth trajectory with two new appointments to its Leeds office. The move follows a raft of new client wins across the property and professional services sectors.

Katie Paterson has joined the Leeds team from DLA Piper where she managed the marketing activity for the company’s Yorkshire offices. As Account Manager she will be applying her experience in PR, stakeholder engagement and event management to the agency’s range of public and private sector clients. University of Leeds graduate Emily McGowan-Phoenix has also joined the team as Account Executive.

The new appointments have been made after a flurry of new business wins for the agency’s Leeds team including Domus Properties, who have unveiled plans for a £53m residential scheme in the city; a regional brief to support the Leeds office of design and structural engineering firm, Civic Engineers; PR and digital services for property sales mediators Assured Sale and Progression; and the recently-announced appointment for the NP11 to deliver strategic communications and digital services.

With over five years’ experience in communications, event management and stakeholder campaigning in both the public and private sectors, Katie has joined the team at Social to bolster its work with clients including Mace, Leeds City Council and the NP11. Previous to her work at DLA, Katie worked at the Leeds City Region LEP where she helped deliver MIPIM UK and MIPIM Cannes for the Leeds City Region as well as the high profile bid for Channel 4, ‘Be the Spark’.

Emily McGowan-Phoenix has stepped onto the first rung of the career ladder in her new role with Social. An English Literature graduate from University of Leeds, Emily is an accomplished writer and blogger and will be supporting clients including LeedsBID, Ahead Partnership, Civic Engineers and Leeds City College. The two new recruits take the head count in the Leeds office of Social up to seven.

Group Director, Pete Wrathmell, who heads up the Leeds office, said: “As we come towards the end of our third year in Leeds, we’re continuing to see enormous growth potential across the Leeds City Region and we are thrilled to be a part of this story as we build our team.

“With a wealth of experience, enthusiasm and understanding of the economic and political agenda across Yorkshire and beyond, Katie and Emily both offer an impressive range of communications skills. I am delighted to welcome them both to the Social team and look forward to supporting them in delivering great work for our clients across the region.”

Founded in 2013, Social employs 37 staff across its offices in Manchester, Leeds and Bristol. The agency has built a national client roster spanning housing, property, professional services, energy, education, transport and infrastructure.
