The Leeds base of integrated communications agency Social has made three senior promotions following a record-breaking 12 months. In its third full year of operation, the office has exceeded its £600,000 turnover target and now has a team of seven based in the city centre.

Pete Wrathmell has been appointed Managing Director, having led the agency’s Yorkshire operation since it opened in November 2016. Victoria Starkey has been promoted to Associate Director, a newly created position for the business, having played in leading role in the growth of the office over the last three years. Julian Pearce, who joined the business in 2018 and has helped broaden the agency’s private sector offering, joins the senior team as Account Director.

The organic growth of the business has seen numerous new business wins in the public and private sector, including government focussed communications campaigns, high profile public consultations, and an evolving offer in the education and skills sector. Turnover compared to the 2017/18 financial year end has jumped by more than 50%, with the agency now looking to further expand its expertise and reach.

Pete said: “We have tried to find the best and brightest minds to join our team and it is a proud moment to promote Victoria and Jules to these senior roles. Our combined offer of strategic consultancy and creative delivery has been well received by our growing portfolio of clients and we are looking forward to continuing our growth journey with a new senior structure in place.”

During the 2018/19 financial year, the Leeds office of Social was appointed by NP11, Luminate Education Group (formerly Leeds City College Group), Civic Engineers, Barratt Homes, Domus Properties and McArthurGlen’s York Designer Outlet. The office provides PR, public affairs, campaigns and creative services to clients across diverse sectors, with particular specialisms in property, place, infrastructure and education.

John Quinton-Barber, Group Chief Executive, commented: “Last year has seen Social land several new clients, which is testament to the outstanding work the team produces.  To ensure that we can continue to deliver great service to our clients we have considerably strengthened our senior team in Leeds to reinforce our offer.”

The agency has recently rebranded to ‘Social’ and operates out of offices in Manchester, Leeds and Bristol.
